Kristen Anne Bell, born 1980 in the United States of America, is an actor and singer. She was born and raised in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier) who is Nurse and Tom Bell, a television news director. She is of Polish (mother's) and German (father's), English, Irish and Scottish ancestry. Kristen's passion for acting was recognized at an early age. In 1992 she won her first acting role in the auditions for Raggedy Ann & Andy. Bell's mother signed her up with an agency just before her 13th birthday. She later appeared on television commercials and newspaper ads. Also, Bell began taking acting lessons privately. Bell was in Polish Wedding (2000) in 1998, as an uncredited actress. Bell was part of the music and drama groups in Shrine Catholic High School. The Wizard of Oz production at the high school she attended earned her the starring Dorothy part. Bell was accepted to New York City for the Tisch School of the Arts to study musical theater upon graduating. In 2001, Bell quit her university in order to play the role of Becky as Becky in Tom Sawyer. In the same year, she starred in Pootie Tang However, the scene in which Bell appeared was cut. In the end, there is only a credit sequence. Bell appeared with Angela Bettis and Liam Neeson in 2002's Broadway revival of The Crucible.
