Aunjanue L. Ellis is an American actress and producer who is involved in the world of film as well as television. Her career in acting began at the theater. Later, she was a part of several television shows as well as independent and mainstream films. The actress became well-known as Miranda Shaw, a character on ABC's Quantico. The BET's epic show The Book of Negroes she played the role of Ariel. Not only did she be praised by critics for her character, she also received a few awards and nominations. In 1995, she made her debut in the role of Ariel on the stage in The Tempest. On Broadway she's appeared in Come and Gone A Winter's Tale Seeking the Genesis and Joe Turner's Come and Gone.
